Registration Information for Fall 2020 Season

** Registration will open on May 1, 2020 **

Please read through this letter carefully to understand our new procedures for player and volunteer registration for this Fall.

As we all grapple with challenges far larger than youth sports, the Board of San Mateo AYSO sends our best wishes for the health and well-being of all our AYSO families.

In the ever changing environment of this global pandemic, San Mateo AYSO remains committed to being ready to offer world-class soccer to the youth in our community when it is safe to do so.  We are closely monitoring the directives of our local, state, and national health directors, and will only run our soccer club when it is deemed safe to do so by health professionals.  The safety of our players and volunteers will be our primary objective.

With that in mind, we are moving forward to begin registration for the Fall 2020 Soccer Season, with major changes to our registration process.  This new process will allow us to plan for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Player Registration

** Registration will open on May 1, 2020 **

** NO UPFRONT FEES WILL BE COLLECTED until we confirm the season will take place.  This decision will be made between June-August, or as soon as we get more clarity from health officials.

1)  Families will not be required to pay money now, but will only be billed once we are reasonably sure a Fall season will take place.

2)  Families instead will be able to register their child on a “wait list” without having to pay any upfront fees.

3)  In July or August as the health situations becomes clearer, we will make an informed decision based on directives from health officials as to whether or not to hold the Fall Season.

4)  Once we have confirmed whether or not a season will take place, we will contact you to invite you to confirm your place for the Fall Season by completing your registration payment.

5)  Signing up early for the wait list will help reduce your registration fee later, and the earlier you sign up, the better your chances of getting a spot on a team.

6)  Because we don’t know how the Fall Season will look, we can not guarantee that signing up on the “wait list” will guarantee you a spot for the Fall.  Due to unforeseen policies we may need to severely reduce the number of players on a team, which may impact the number of players in each division.

Volunteer Registration

** Registration for volunteers will be delayed until a later date in case the Fall season does not move forward.

1)  Volunteers will be asked to commit to be a coach or referee informally

2)  We strongly encourage volunteers to informally commit as early as possible, as the number of kids who can play soccer will be directly related to the number of volunteers we have.

3)  At this time, you will not be asked to complete the full application and no background check will be run.

4)  Volunteers can complete a volunteer form at https://forms.gle/DXJRWNee5wLgHdhF8

5)  Questions?  Contact us at  [email protected],

AYSO is a 100% volunteer league, so we can't field teams without the awesome help of our parent volunteers!

Online registration is by credit card only.  If you need to pay by check or cash, you can will need to come to our walk-in registration sessions which are listed above

Fees for the 2020 Fall Season include a non-refundable $20 AYSO National Fee, and are set as follows:

Your UserID and Password

Be sure to use your UserID and Password from last season so that all the information you entered, including your child's proof of age, will be there ready for you!  If you are a returning player, registration should take you less than five minutes!  If you forgot your UserID and Password, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you your UserID and Password.

Remember, at AYSO everyone plays, so there are no tryouts!  As long as you register before your Division fills up, your child will play!!

Birth Year Registration

Placement in division is based on birth year of the player. Refer to the Division Age Guide for details.

If you are not able to register your player due to a full division notification, please do not worry. We have players that drop up until opening day. Once we receive a drop, you will receive an email from the Registrar letting you know we have space so you can complete your payment and registration. It is our goal to have every player play who signs up!

If you have any questions, please contact David Lim by email at [email protected].

16U-19U Players

If you are a 16U or 19U player, you must have an AYSO-issued photo ID to play.  Please upload a recent headshot of your player to the Blue Sombrero website at the time you register.
