Meeting Notes:
WELCOME
Gene Batter welcomed all those present and thanked
Susie for joining us at this meeting.
Keith made a motion to approve the minutes, Kelly
seconded. Minutes from
June 2002 were unanimously approved.
League Commissioner’s Reports:
Regional Commissioner, Gene Batter thanked the Division
Coordinators for a terrific job on the roosters and a special thank you to Ken
Outzen to working diligently to get everyone off the waiting list. Packets are almost ready for hand out. Gene also announced a reoccurring issue
recruiting coaches for U14 and U16 divisions.
He asked the Board to come up with ideas on how to maintain coaches for
these two divisions.
Coach and Referee Administration Report:
Doug Brown reported that he conducted a very
successful youth clinic, with 10 graduates.
Brian Kersten reported that all the team parent
classes have been scheduled. Brian has
sent a list of all the classes to Gene Batter.
Gene created a flyer to hand out to all parents for the need for
referees. Brian stated that he has set
the two practices games for refereers and he has also set the referee b-bque.
Ross Weir reporting for the U16/U19, thanked Gene
and Eric for the administrative help during registration. He stated that there is a record number of
kids in the upper division for boys and girls.
The boy’s area is full. There is 1 U19 team and 2 U16 teams. The girls U19 is full with 1 teams and there
are a couple of openings in the U16, which is 4 teams.
Rand Potter handed out a copy of the Treasury
Report. He reported that there is about
$94,000 in the checking account. We will
have expenses this month of MLS Coaching Books and uniforms. He stated that we are right about on track
from last year. A new account will show
up named “Tournament Uniforms.”
Registration & Team Formation Update:
Gene handed out a 2002 Team Update and stated that
last year we had 1960 registered kids, this year we have approximately
2100. Gene stated that in Boys Under 12
and Boys Under 10 a decision was made to approve 10 on the field, 13 on each
team to maintain the ¾ play. Keith made
a motion to approve 10 players on the field with 13 on each team in both BU12
& BU10, the motion was unanimously approved.
Kids Zone:
Kelly made a motion to give authorization to Eric
Haas to spend up to $1400 on “A” frames posters. Keith seconded the motion and it was
unanimously approved.
Picture Day Update:
Picture Day is scheduled and is all set for
September 8th, 2002.
Rules Clarification:
Gene talked about offsides and it was agreed that
in U10 offsides would be called from the first game on. He also talked about the issue of wearing
bandanas and it was discussed and decided that a bandana is not appropriate to
wear for soccer.
Yearbook:
Gene discussed yearbook choices. Brian made a motion to approve 1 yearbook
with a black and white cover, Keith seconded the motion and it was unanimously
approved.
There was a discussion on whether we should get T-shirts made for the coaches this year as we have done the past 2 years. The bill for these is around $2500 if we use last years design, it is approximately $3000 if we switch to a new design. Blair made a motion to get t-shirts for coaches with a new design, Kelly seconded and it was unanimously approved.
